Welcome to the Visual Neurobiology and Signal Transduction Laboratory at Loyola University Chicago

The Visual Neurobiology Laboratory and Signal Transduction is located in the new state-of-the-art Center for Translational Research & Education building on Loyola University Chicago's Health Sciences Campus in Maywood, IL.

Under the direction of Dr. Simon Kaja, PhD, the lab’s major research interest lies in identifying basic mechanisms of cellular homeostasis and the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying human ophthalmic disorders.

The research in the lab utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to characterize various aspects of the molecular, electrophysiological, pharmacological, biochemical, and genetic properties of ion channels in normal and pathophysiological states.
